Skin checks and minor surgery for moles and skin cancers

Skin cancer is on the increase and everyone needs to be aware of the signs of this disease. Like all cancers, skin cancer can kill. However, if it is caught early, skin cancer is treatable.

Skin cancers often first appear as a change in a mole or a patch of normal skin. If a normal patch of skin darkens or changes colour, or if a mole changes colour or shape, becomes inflamed or itchy, bleeds or weeps, see your doctor immediately. The change may be harmless, but it may not – so it is important to get it checked as quickly as possible.

Medcare offers a free service to check suspect moles or patches of skin.

Only one free check per patient. Any subsequent checks will incur a fee.
