Can I still use the Spanish system if I register with Medcare?
Absolutely, Medcare Costa Blanca, can work with and complement the Spanish system. In fact, 80% of our patients are also registered with the Spanish national health system but choose to use Medcare as well because they find it easier to deal with a British Doctor, and because it can work out cheaper than paying a translator to accompany them to a Spanish doctor.
Can I use Medcare if I am in Spain on holiday and fall ill?
Yes. Although our resident patients benefit from membership plans, you do not have to be a member to use Medcare.
If I am resident in Spain do I have to be a member to use Medcare?
No. Although there are lots of advantages to being a Medcare member, you are able to consult a GP or use any of the other services without taking out membership.
I have diabetes and am worried I will not get the checks I need in Spain.
The Medcare GP and specialist diabetes nurse can provide a full diabetes monitoring and care service, just as you would receive in the UK. We also hold a free monthly diabetes club where you can receive help and information.
How do I make an appointment with Medcare?
Simple, just ring Medcare between 9am and 4pm on 966 860 258 and tell us when you would like to come in.
Do you do blood tests?
Yes, we provide all the services you would expect to find at your GP surgery in the UK.
Do you do travel vaccinations?
Yes, just tell us where you are going and we will make sure you receive all the vaccinations you require to stay safe.
Can I have a check up with the dentist?
Of course. Our dentist offers a free dental check for everyone.
